Historical Inspiration: A Modern Take on the Roman Domus

The design is deeply inspired by the ancient Roman domus, a private house known for its central courtyard and harmonious integration of functional spaces. At the heart of the building is a modern reinterpretation of the impluvium—a central water feature traditionally used in Roman houses to collect rainwater while providing aesthetic and climatic benefits. Here, the impluvium takes the form of an elongated, minimalist pool that runs along the center of the structure, serving as a focal point and a source of tranquility.

This central pool not only anchors the entire design but also reinforces the ancient Roman concept of creating communal and contemplative spaces around water. By merging this historical inspiration with modern principles of biophilic design, the project creates an environment that fosters relaxation, productivity, and a seamless connection to nature.
